BINDERY SERVICES

Our comprehensive in-house finishing department allows us to complete the majority of jobs onsite, eliminating the need to outsource to external bindery houses. By managing most print finishing internally, we maintain complete quality control from production through to the finished product.

Our finishing capabilities include:

Three Guillotines and Three Folders.
Two Eight-station Saddle Stitchers.
Perfect Binder along with three knife trimmer.
Tower Collator stand alongside staplers cover our NCR requirements.
Heidelberg Cylinder and Platen used for a range of specialty die-cutting, creasing, perforating and embossing jobs.
Punch and Wiro-Binder Equipment.

TYPES OF MACHINERY AND BINDING:

CUTTING/TRIMMING: Jobs that have non-standard sizes or shapes need to be trimmed to the correct size. We have two large guillotines which are able to trim all documents.
FOLDING: An SRA1 folder is capable of folding SRA1 sheets down to DLE size. Another two folders can fold sheets from up to SRA2 down to DLE, with a range of more complex custom fold options also available.
SADDLE-STITCHERS: Dash Design and Print has two Müller Martini saddle-stitchers, enabling us to collate, stitch, trim, and pack books — including DLE, A6, A5, A4, and A3 sizes — in a single efficient process, allowing for exceptionally fast turnaround times. Both machines can handle sections with or without flat or folded covers, cards, and stitched-in inserts. Each machine is equipped with eight feeder stations, a three-knife trimmer, and a stacker.
PERFECT BINDING: We have a perfect binding machine with a three-knife trimmer, capable of producing a high-quality finish for all your perfect-bound books.
WIRO BINDING: This binding is made using a double coil of wire with interlocking “fingers” that run through holes punched on the edge of the book. Up to A3 size (long edge).

SPECIAL FINISHES:

SRA1 LAMINATOR: We are able to laminate single-sided sheets in one pass, from SRA3 up to SRA1 size, in either matt or gloss finishes using BOPP or Digital laminates.
DIE-CUTTING: The process of using sharp steel rules to cut special shapes for labels, stickers and shaped business cards, from printed sheets (we are able to die cut the most unusual shapes). A simple example would be folders, or money boxes.
CREASING/PERFORATING: The process of creasing is used to prevent heavy paper from cracking when folded, while perforating creates neat tear lines for items like tickets, vouchers or NCR books.
DUPLICATE BOOKS (NCR): DASH Design and Print can print books or pads that duplicate onto several copies (2 copies - duplicate, 3 copies - triplicate), using NCR (No Carbon Required) for items such as order books, tax invoice statements, log books. We can also number the copies as required.
EMBOSSING: Embossing a relief image to achieve a raised printed surface (“Blind” embossing gives an un-inked impression on blank paper). This effect is achieved by first creating the image on a zinc block, then using pressure to emboss the image onto the stock.
SPOT UV: Ultra-violet cured coatings that can be applied over ink printed on paper. It can be applied in very thin films and can be formulated to a wide variety of gloss ranges to give great effects.
